On March 6th, 2018, the seminar for the work plan of the Shenzhen Institute of Guangdong Ocean University was held in the Administrative Committee of Dapeng New District. Duan xiaowei, director of the economic services bureau of dapeng new district, emphasized at the conference that Dapeng will closely follow the goal of building a global oceanic center city and carry out the deployment of marine operations, we will carry out reforms and innovations in the areas of blue carbon sinks, beach management, coral restoration, water quality control and other marine management aspects as key tasks in 2018. It is hoped that the Institute will make ocean management and marine scientific research a key task for the next step and help Dapeng promote the construction of the global ocean center city.

In 2018, the institute will provide 50 establishments, with 1 billion funds to support, and focus on building 10 high-level scientific research teams in the sea-related fields. The Institute plans to set up a graduate school within the next two years. The graduate school will gather resources from various disciplines such as oceans, fisheries, food, and medicine, focusing on recruiting students in countries and regions along the “Belt and Road Initiative” and exploring the model of joint training of international talent at home and abroad.
